A formal, explicit specification of a shared conceptualization - the concepts, properties, and relationships within a domain, typically expressed in a language such as OWL.

Scope note

Represents the formal layer following the SKOS taxonomy in the Glossary -> Taxonomy -> Ontology pipeline. Use for concepts/classes/axioms intended for formal reasoning, distinct from the looser Taxonomy stage.
